Job Description

Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Chief Medical Officer

(CMO) to lead all clinical operations across our growing network of outpatient orthopedic clinics

and surgery centers. The CMO will be responsible for building processes and procedures to

ensure accurate diagnoses, appropriate interventions, and exceptional clinical outcomes—while

safeguarding patient safety, documentation quality, and overall patient experience.

This role will oversee a team of Clinical Directors who lead midlevel providers at each clinic, as

well as all physicians and surgeons. As a key member of the executive team, the CMO will help

shape the future of healthcare in America by strengthening the doctor-patient relationship and

ensuring patients receive fast, effective care in true partnership with their medical provider.

The company is currently operating in 4 states and is executing a strategic growth plan to

expand to 24 markets across the U.S. The CMO will play a pivotal role in developing surgeons

as site-level partners and midlevel providers as Clinical Directors and future clinical leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Oversight

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all clinical operations across multiple

locations.

• Ensure providers deliver timely, accurate diagnoses and personalized, effective treatment

plans.

• Promote a culture of clinical excellence, safety, and accountability.

Team Management & Talent Development

• Directly manage Clinical Directors, who in turn lead teams of advanced practice

providers.

• Oversee and mentor all surgeons and physicians, fostering a high-performance, team-

based clinical culture.

• Identify and develop future leaders among both physician and midlevel staff.

Doctor-Patient Relationship & Outcomes

• Champion the physician-patient partnership as the cornerstone of effective care.

• Ensure that care decisions are made collaboratively between doctors and patients, with

clear communication and patient understanding.

• Promote excellent clinical outcomes and individualized treatment plans for every patient.

Documentation & Technology

• Ensure accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in our NextGen EHR system.

• Leverage tools such as ambient AI assistants to reduce administrative burden and

increase provider efficiency.

• Standardize documentation practices to support quality, continuity, and compliance.

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Collaborate closely with leaders in sales, administration, and business operations to align

care delivery with enterprise-wide goals.

• Contribute clinical insight into new service lines, patient experience strategies, and

growth planning.

Operational & Equipment Oversight

• In partnership with operations leaders, oversee the clinical readiness and maintenance of

all medical equipment including MRI, X-ray, C-arm, hyperbaric chambers, CT machines,

and more.

• Ensure that all equipment is functioning at elite levels and that usage aligns with safety

and quality standards.

Performance Metrics & Continuous Improvement

• Define, track, and improve KPIs for clinical quality, safety, documentation accuracy, and

patient satisfaction.

• Use data to identify opportunities for process improvement, provider coaching, and care

optimization.

• Drive consistency in the patient experience across all markets.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Provider Scheduling & Capacity Alignment – Ensure providers are scheduled at the

correct locations to meet capacity targets and patient demand while balancing specialty

distribution and patient needs.

• Provider Skills Monitoring & Training Compliance – Regularly assess provider

competencies, ensure skill sets are aligned to clinical requirements, and enforce timely

completion of mandatory training and skill development.

• Provider Performance Accountability – Establish, track, and review performance KPIs

for each provider, holding them accountable for meeting clinical quality, productivity,

and patient satisfaction goals.

• Documentation, Coding & Charge Capture Accuracy – Maintain a high accuracy rate

for clinical notes, coding, and charge capture to ensure proper reimbursement,

compliance, and revenue cycle efficiency.

• Provider Relationship Management – Foster strong, trust-based relationships between

providers and the organization, ensuring open communication, professional satisfaction,

and alignment with company mission and values.

Qualifications

• M.D. or D.O. with active and unrestricted medical license.

• 10+ years of clinical experience, with 5+ years in a senior leadership or executive role.

• Demonstrated success overseeing multi-site clinical operations and improving outcomes

at scale.

• Experience mentoring physicians and advanced practice providers.

• Strong familiarity with EHR platforms (NextGen preferred), clinical documentation, and

technology adoption.

• Knowledge of orthopedic care delivery models, surgical practices, and diagnostic

protocols preferred.

• Experience in healthcare scaling, private practice growth, or partnership models is a

strong plus.

Core Competencies

• Strategic and systems-oriented thinker

• Passionate about improving healthcare through innovation and access

• Strong communicator who leads with clarity and purpose

• Committed to building exceptional teams and future leaders

• Analytical and data-driven decision maker

• Collaborative and mission-aligned executive

Redefining how orthopedic care is delivered—focusing on fast,

effective, personalized treatment and exceptional patient experiences. Growing rapidly

across the U.S., with a mission to make the doctor-patient relationship the foundation of modern healthcare
