About the Role
The Company is seeking a VP, Business Affairs to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for structuring, drafting, and negotiating a high volume of music-related agreements, including artist recording agreements, licenses, profit share and joint ventures, distribution agreements, and various other deals. This role requires providing strategic legal advice on a wide range of issues, coordinating with the financial department on profit and loss analysis, and ensuring compliance with legal obligations. The VP will also be involved in day-to-day business and legal matters, and must be adept at balancing legal considerations with business objectives. Applicants for the VP, Business Affairs position at the company should have a strong legal background in music business law, with a focus on intellectual property, copyright, and music industry experience. A keen interest in the music industry and familiarity with new technology and the digital music environment are highly preferred. The role demands excellent negotiating, drafting, and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. A minimum of 8 years' relevant legal experience, particularly in the areas of recording agreements, profit shares, distribution agreements, and other music-related legal matters, is required. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving and strong interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of management.
